Autumn is a critical time for agricultural harvests, and with the abundance of food in farmlands, rodent populations tend to increase significantly. As the season progresses, these pests gradually move from open fields into farmhouses and storage areas, posing serious threats to food safety and human and animal health. According to recent surveys conducted by our station, approximately 1-3% of farmland has more than 100 mouse holes per acre, while 2-5% of farmhouse areas are also heavily infested. In light of this situation, it's essential to adopt an active "prevention and control" strategy and intensify rodent management efforts during the fall season.
The rodent control campaign will cover all towns, town agencies, grain storage and processing units, retail stores, residential areas, and farmhouses. The timing for the operation will be centralized and unified between September 28th and October 1st, ensuring a coordinated and effective approach.
In terms of methods, poison bait stations will be the primary tool used for rodent control. For farmland, place 10–15 bait piles per acre, with each pile containing 50–100 grams of bait. Inside homes or buildings where mice are frequently seen, set up 2–3 bait piles per 15 square meters, using 5–10 grams per pile. It's important to monitor and replenish the bait every 2–3 days to maintain its effectiveness.
As for the rodenticides, we will use a standardized solution, including bromocoumarol, bromadiolone, and sodium monofluoroacetate as the main ingredients. These products are selected for their safety and efficiency. This initiative is being led by the Hubei Dangyang Agricultural 110 Service Center, which ensures that all operations follow strict guidelines and regulations.
By implementing these measures, we aim to reduce rodent populations effectively and protect both agricultural resources and public health. Everyone is encouraged to participate actively and remain vigilant to ensure the success of this important campaign.
