Storage of peanut seeds in winter tips

Proper drying of peanuts is essential before storage to prevent spoilage. Once harvested, peanuts are classified as legumes and must be fully dried to ensure their moisture content remains below 8%. If stored in a high-humidity environment, they can easily absorb moisture, leading to mold growth and loss of quality. During the autumn season, when the weather is typically sunny, fresh peanuts require about 7 to 10 days to dry completely. Before storage, it's important to select the right temperature and humidity levels. Any damaged, diseased, or insect-infested peanuts should be removed to maintain quality. The moisture level must be strictly controlled, and the storage temperature should not exceed 20°C. If the moisture content exceeds 10%, the risk of spoilage increases significantly, which can reduce the viability of the seeds. Once the peanuts are properly dried, they should be placed into plastic braiding bags, with each bag weighing approximately 15 kilograms. These bags should be stored in a clean, dry indoor space, kept at least 50 cm away from walls to allow for air circulation. The stacking height should not exceed two meters to prevent damage and ensure proper ventilation. During the initial storage period, regular ventilation is crucial to control humidity and prevent condensation. Additionally, strict measures must be taken to prevent pests, rodents, and mold from damaging the stored peanuts. It's important to frequently inspect the storage area and check the stability of the stacks to avoid any potential issues. By following these steps, the quality and longevity of the peanuts can be effectively maintained.
