Fertilization: If the nutrient soil is properly enriched with fertilizer, there may be no need to apply additional nutrients during the seedling stage. However, if you notice that the leaves are pale or show signs of nutrient deficiency, you can spray the seedlings with a 0.2% solution of urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate. In cucumber cultivation, the use of carbon dioxide fertilization has been proven to significantly enhance seedling quality, so it's highly recommended to implement this technique whenever possible. As the seedlings grow, they may become too close together, which can hinder their development. In the later stages, it's important to increase the spacing between plants. The process involves transplanting the seedlings, ensuring that those of similar size are grouped together, and then filling the gaps between the clods with fresh, nutrient-rich soil. This helps promote better root development and overall plant health. Cucumber seedlings are often grown in early spring greenhouses and then transferred to open fields, where environmental conditions differ significantly. To help them adapt more easily after planting and improve their cold tolerance, it's essential to harden them off for 7–10 days before transplanting. During this period, greenhouse heating should be turned off, and electric heating mats should also be discontinued. Increase ventilation, gradually reduce nighttime coverings, and keep daytime temperatures around 20–25°C. Nighttime temperatures can drop to as low as 5–10°C, provided there's no risk of frost. Watering should be minimal during this time—only mist the wilting areas if local dryness occurs.
