These criteria are outlined below: First, high-yielding ducks have large, bright eyes that appear "godly" or prominent. Their heads are slightly smaller, and their necks are slender, giving them an alert and intelligent look, often described as "snakehead." In contrast, low-yielding ducks tend to have small, dull eyes, with larger heads and thicker necks. Second, high-yield ducks have broad backs and deep chests, with tight and well-structured feathers that shine with luster. Low-yielding ducks, on the other hand, have narrow backs and chests, with sparse, uneven, and lifeless feathers. Third, when holding a duck by the neck, high-yielding ducks will keep their legs straight and extended downward, with each toe spread apart. Low-yielding ducks tend to have bent legs and closed toes. Fourth, during the laying period, high-yield ducks have a wide pubic space that is soft and elastic, allowing 3 to 4 fingers to fit comfortably inside. Low-yield ducks have a narrow and firm pubic space, only accommodating 2 to 2.5 fingers. Fifth, high-yielding ducks have full, soft, and sagging rear ends, with the pubic and sternum areas capable of fitting 3 to 4.5 fingers. Low-yield ducks have smaller, harder, and less developed rear ends, with a limited space of only 2.5 to 3 fingers. Sixth, high-yield ducks have a large, moist, and semi-open cloaca during production, indicating good reproductive health. Low-yield ducks, however, have a tight, dry, and wrinkled cloaca, which suggests poor laying performance. Seventh, in spring, high-yielding ducks have smooth and fine feathers, showing high metabolic activity and lively behavior. Low-yielding ducks, on the other hand, have messy and dull feathers, with sluggish and inactive movements. Eighth, during autumn, high-yielding ducks may have messy and dull feathers due to nutrient depletion from egg production, and their bellies may be soiled from prolonged laying, causing them to walk with a wobbly gait. Low-yield ducks, however, typically molt after laying eggs, resulting in neat and tidy feathers. These observations provide farmers with practical visual indicators to assess the productivity potential of their ducks, helping to improve breeding and management practices.
