Believe it or not, the single best thing my husband and I did for our relationship was to start openly discussing finances. When we got married six months in, we realized just how little we knew about each other's financial aspirations. Sometimes I feel like the "nay-sayer," but setting aside this time together helps us stay accountable and makes sticking to our plans much simpler.
I don’t think open communication about budgeting should be limited to married couples, but it’s particularly vital when you're in a committed relationship.
