In winter, when the water level in fish ponds is low, especially when the water surface is frozen, the water in the pool is prone to lack of oxygen, and in severe cases it will cause the fish to suffocate. Oxygen-enhancement measures should be taken during the winter to ensure the safe wintering of fish.
I. Biological aeration
Before the ice pool, inject rich phytoplankton fertilizer into the fish pond. The amount of water injected shall not exceed one fifth. Use the phytoplankton to release oxygen by photosynthesis and supply oxygen to the pool water. If the pool water is thin, apply 0.5 to 1 kg of urea and superphosphate per acre. Do not apply organic fertilizer. Fertilization time should not be too early, it is best to be carried out immediately before freezing, in order to avoid premature breeding of algae, reducing the oxygen content of later water.
Second, water injection and oxygenation
During the winter, fish ponds lack water or lack of oxygen and can divert water directly into the pond. If the oxygen content in the water source is low, the water flow can go through a certain process and drop, and then the oxygen content is increased and then injected into the pond to increase the oxygenation effect. Excessive iron-containing water cannot be directly injected into fish ponds. It must be sun dried, oxidized and precipitated after a certain period of time before it can be injected into the pond. Oxygen injection into the water should be carried out early to prevent overheating or flooding for too long due to lack of oxygen, resulting in drastic changes in pond water temperature.
Third, aerated oxygen method
Use air pump to press air into the hose installed under the ice water, connect a sand filter on the top of the hose, or directly pierce many small holes in the hose, let the air diffuse into the water with small bubbles, improve the air-water contact Area, increase the oxygen content of the pool water. If necessary, oxygen cylinders can be used to directly send pure oxygen through the hose to the ice water for emergency oxygen supplementation.
Fourth, chemical oxygenation
Small water bodies, such as pools and water tanks in greenhouses, can be supplemented with chemical oxygenation aids when hypoxia occurs during winter. Suitable chemical oxygen activators include ammonium dipersulfate, calcium peroxide and hydrogen peroxide. Ammonium peroxodisulfate uses 10 grams per cubic meter of water and is harmless to fish. Calcium peroxide and hydrogen peroxide can add 10 to 20 milliliters per cubic meter of water. The amount should not be too large to avoid harm to the fish.
