Application of Silicon, Calcium and Magnesium Fertilizers in Apple Orchard

Silica-calcium-magnesium fertilizer is a by-product of alumina production - red mud, containing various mineral elements such as osmium-soluble silica 20.58%, calcium dioxide 40.95%, magnesium oxide 19.0%, potassium oxide 2.4% and iron oxide 0.68%. Calcium silicon can thicken the cell wall, creating a mechanical barrier that prevents fungal invasion and larvae drilling. This has a good effect on rejuvenating the tree potential and improving the disease resistance of the tree. According to the Shandong Institute of Pomology Research, 5 kg of silicon, calcium and magnesium fertilizers were applied to the Golden Delicious or Guoguang Apple plants, and the calcium content of the leaves increased by 8.2%-34.5%, and the silicon content increased by 5.7%-35.4%. For four years of continuous application, the incidence of rot disease was reduced by 11% to 22% compared with the control; for continuous use for three years, the average weekly dry growth was 13.2% to 19.2% higher than the control. It also has some effects on increasing fruit firmness, improving fruit quality and improving storage stability. The fruit firmness is mostly 1.3%-5.7% higher than the control, and the soluble solid content is increased 27%-6.4%. The golden crown apples are stored until the end of December. 15.9%-45.6% lower than the control.
Silica-calcium-magnesium fertilizer is an alkaline cerium-soluble fertiliser with a PH value of 10-12, so it should be applied in slightly acidic and acidic soils. In late autumn or early spring, the effect of mixing with base fertilizer is better.
