Additionally, the root bark often turns brown. On the above-ground parts, leaves may show purple or bluish-purple spots, become curled or twisted, and the stems may become swollen. During the flowering stage, boron deficiency can lead to a condition known as "flowering without fruiting" — where the plant flowers but fails to produce any fruits or seeds. To correct this issue, farmers can apply borax as a foliar spray. A recommended dosage is 150–200 grams of borax dissolved in 150–200 kilograms of water per acre, or 50–100 grams of borax mixed with 50 kilograms of water. It's best to apply the solution during sunny afternoons when the plant can absorb it more effectively. Regular monitoring of soil boron levels and timely application of supplements can help prevent these problems and ensure better crop yields.
