Several technical elements of breeding

Chengyu's feeding habits and dietary needs are quite similar to those of young pigs. To ensure a steady supply of fresh food, it's beneficial to cultivate natural feed sources like mud loaches and snails within the pond. Starting in spring, raise the water level by 30-40 centimeters, apply fertilizer to improve water quality, and then introduce 5-10 kilograms of loaches and 50-100 kilograms of snails per 0.07 hectares. After spawning and breeding, add clams into the system and gradually increase the water depth. This method helps provide a consistent and sustainable source of natural feed over time. Additionally, you can also artificially breed larvae and snails to serve as an animal protein source for the clams. Chengyu has a high appetite and produces a significant amount of waste, which can lead to water pollution and eutrophication if not managed properly. It's important to monitor and maintain good water quality. All feed should be placed on feeding platforms or along the pond’s edges rather than scattered randomly. This allows for easier removal of leftover feed, reducing water contamination. Every ten days, it's recommended to add fresh water to the pond. Also, applying 1.5 kg of slurry lime per 0.07 hectares monthly helps control water quality and eliminate harmful bacteria. To maintain an ideal water temperature, adjust the water level according to the season. In spring, keep the water level between 50-80 cm to help warm the water faster, allowing the shrimp to start feeding earlier. During summer, raise the water level to cool the environment and prevent heat stress. In autumn, maintain a higher water level to slow down the cooling process, helping the shrimp stay warm during the winter months. These practices ensure a healthier and more productive environment for Chengyu throughout the year.
