Methoquinone (Cytobacter net) is a relatively new chemical synthetic antibacterial agent, mainly used for gastrointestinal bacterial infections. Cases of toxication caused by methaquine have not been reported. The author once encountered a case of horse poisoning caused by oral administration of large doses of metyquine, and he was cured after treatment. The report is as follows, for reference only.
1 Clinical examination temperature 38.7°C, pulse 72 beats/minute, breath 36 breaths/minute. The spirit of sick horses is faltering, the appetite for food is reduced, the consumption of condiments is not enough, and grass is seldom eaten. Conjunctival hyperemia and flushing. The mouth is moist, dripping, and the bowel sounds are buzzing and continuous. You can hear the sound of flowing water. Rows of stinky and loose stools. Reduced urination, yellow urine. Intermittent abdominal pain is disturbed, forelimbs are shaved, and the hind legs are kicked, sometimes rolling down. Muscles tremble and the body sweats. Others do not recognize abnormalities.
2 The diagnosis was based on the history of melaquine administration and severe symptoms such as muscle tremors and body sweating within a short period of time (3 hours) after the administration of mequindoxine. Metoquine poisoning was diagnosed.
3 Treatment In order to promote the excretion of toxic substances and calm the horse, sodium sulphate 500g, chloral hydrate 20g, and appropriate amount of warm water were used for laxative administration through nasogastric tubes. At the same time with 25% glucose 2000nil, vitamin C30mL, vitamin D 140mL, dexamethasone 10mL, adenosine triphosphate 20mL, respectively, mixed intravenously. The symptoms on the second day were obviously relieved. The patients were taken orally without laxatives and continued to be injected intravenously with the above-mentioned injection and recovered after 2 days.
